NoDogGone.com is a volunteer staffed 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that was founded for the purpose of helping prevent the destruction of dogs by providing useful information and resources to people. Every year approximately 3 million unwanted dogs are put to death in the U.S. alone. Even one dog being unwanted and having to be put down is too many for us and we want to keep spreading the word until that number is at zero. Our approach is based on pro-active education. We try to get to people before they get a dog in order to help them make an educated decision based on realistic expectations. If we can reduce the number of people getting dogs on impulse then we can reduce the number of dogs that end up on death row. We also promote adoption. That's it - no big secret.
Our efforts go beyond the web though. NoDogGone.com is also active in the community. We participate in local events and lend a hand to local shelters and rescues. These types of activities are a great way to find out if a dog is a good fit for you. Consider volunteering at a local shelter or rescue - even if it's just once. You'll meet some great people and get some hands on experience with dogs. Who knows, you might even get hooked.
